Dr. Anne Doig CCFP, FCFP

Dr. Anne Doig has spent her entire 30 year career in Saskatoon serving thepatients of City Centre Family Physicians, the successor of her father’s original
practice in Hawarden, SK. Together with the other physicians in the practice,the Doigs have provided continuous comprehensive service for more than
50 years to people from Saskatoon and many outlying communities including Hawarden. They are proud of this record of commitment to the people of
Saskatchewan.Anne Doig graduated from the University of Saskatchewan’s College ofMedicine in 1976. She completed postgraduate training in Family Medicine in
Saskatoon, was certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 1978 and granted Fellowship in 1994. Dr. Doig has been in full-time family practice
since 1978 and is an active member of the practitioner staff of the Saskatoon Health Region.A Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Doig has been honoured twice for her commitment to teaching. In 1990 she was named “Clinical Teacher of the Year in Family Medicine”by the medical house staff at Saskatoon City Hospital. In 1996 she was the Saskatchewan recipient
of the “Excellence in Teaching Award” from the Association of Professors of Obstetrics andGynecology.
Dr. Doig is an original contributor to the ALARM (Advances in Labour and Risk Management) program of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. As a past co-chair of the ALARM Committee, she has taught ALARM courses across Canada. Dr. Doig is also the Medical
Advisor to the Population Health Division of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. She is involved in
its screening and prevention programs for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer.Dr. Doig’s commitment to the CMA and the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) has been
extensive and long-term. She is the present chair of the CMA’s Bylaws Committee, the immediate
past chair of the SMA’s Legislative Committee and a past speaker of its Representative Assembly. She has been a member of the SMA’s Board of Directors and of its Finance and Executive Committees.Presently, she is a member of the SMA’s Representative Assembly and of the association’s Member Advisory Committee.Dr. Doig has been an active volunteer in competitive speed swimming since 1990 and competed as a Masters swimmer for many years. She is a past president of Swim Saskatchewan Incorporated and
is currently a member of the Policy and Governance Committee of Swimming Canada (SNC). She chaired the SNC’s Governance Task Force in 2003 and was recognized for that work with the President’s Award. Her work for swimming earned her recognition from the Government of
Saskatchewan in 2005 as a recipient of a Centennial Leadership Award as well as from Sask Sport as one of three recipients of its 2005 Volunteer Award. Dr. Doig has been selected to be one of the Major Technical Officials for swimming for the 2009 Canada Games in Charlottetown.
Anne Doig and her husband Bob Cowan have six children. In addition to their professional careers, they owned and operated the Cowan family grain farm near Rosetown, Saskatchewan from 1994until 2007. The farm was
homesteaded by Bob’s grandfather in 1905 and received a Century FarmAward from the Province of Saskatchewan in 2005.
