David J. Mondragon

President and CEO Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited

David J. Mondragon is president and CEO of Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, appointed to the position in August, 2008.  He leads Ford of Canada's extensive operations across the country, including a national headquarters, three regional offices, two branch offices, four vehicle assembly and engine manufacturing plants, and two parts distribution centres.

Mondragon is also chairman of Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association (CVMA), co-chairman of the Canadian Automotive Partnership Council (CAPC), member of the C.D. Howe Institute Board of Directors, member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE) and a member of the Centre for CEOs of Enterprises with Foreign Ownership (CCEFO).

Ford employs more than 7,000 people in Canada, while an additional 18,000 people work in the more than 400 Ford and Ford-Lincoln dealerships across the country.

"Canada is a dynamic country and Canadians are discerning buyers," Mondragon said.  "They demand quality, versatility, fuel efficiency, and safety, which makes this an engaging market to serve."

Mondragon began his Ford career in an entry-level administrative job at the Edison (N.J.) Assembly Plant and during his successful 25 years with Ford has held a variety of leadership roles within sales and marketing. For two years prior to joining Ford of Canada, Mondragon served as general manager for Ford's largest market in the U.S., the Southwest Region.

Between 2003 and 2006, Mondragon served as manager of marketing programs and strategy where he directed national incentive initiatives and led the approach for more than 80 auto shows across the U.S.  Responsible for events with the potential to reach millions, Mondragon re-vamped Ford's presence at U.S. auto shows to fully showcase all aspects of the business.

"I've accumulated quite a collection of outstanding moments while working for Ford, but that very first job in administrative support at the plant was probably one of my most important experiences. I learned that every member of the team has the potential to contribute, no matter what title comes with their job description.  Each person has an important role to play in building success for the organization," says Mondragon.  "I feel very fortunate that, since that very first day, I've been offered opportunities that continue to challenge and excite me."

Mondragon was born in Stockton, California on November 6,
1960.  He attended California State University and holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston.  Mondragon is married with three children and a balance between work and personal life is a top priority.

"I love to play football and baseball – a passion that I share with my family.  Coaching my son's baseball team is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done," said Mondragon.  "At work and at play, hard work, good sportsmanship, team work and a positive attitude are valuable lessons – ideals that I share with both my family at home and my family at Ford."
