Innovation Takes Leadership: Opportunities for Canada's Health Care System
September 17, 2010
11:45 am - 1:30 pm
The Sutton Place Hotel
955 Bay Street,
Toronto
Canada has one of the best health care systems in the world – certainly one of the most expensive – populated with some of the most innovative health care professionals to be found anywhere. But consistently and surprisingly the Canadian health care system lags in the adoption of new technologies, the penetration of new systems and processes and the commercialization and adoption of local innovations and breakthroughs.
In her speech, Dr. Leitch will lay out the mandate of the Ivey Centre, discuss some of the barriers that the Centres initial research has identified as being the root cause of our innovation deficit and lay out a case for why Canada must tackle this deficit if it is to have a sustainable, accessible health care system in the future.
The speech will also mark the release of the Ivey Centre’s first major publication – a white paper titled “Innovation Takes Leadership – Opportunities for Canada’s Health Care System”.
